Diogo Dalot wanted by AC Milan

The upcoming winter will see Milan improving their defensive department.

Reports in the Italian media claim that Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is wanted by AC Milan.

The Portugal international joined Manchester United from Porto for a fee in the region of 22 million euros in June 2021. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.

In 11 appearances this season, Dalot has contributed with two assists.

The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best right-backs in Portugal. As a member of Portugal national football team, Dalot won five caps.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Milan.

The Italian giants have earmarked Manchester United right-back as their target, with Stefano Pioli being a ‘huge admirer’ of the player.

AC Milan are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.

The former Porto man will offer the Milan boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.

According to the report, “Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is being monitored by AC Milan this season. The Italian champions saw Dalot up close and personal during a loan spell a couple of years ago. However, the move was not made permanent, and he has since established himself in United’s first team under Erik ten Hag. According to Calciomercato, Milan are not happy with Sergino Dest’s displays so far this term. The 23-year-old is not likely to be long for the club, which means they are looking to sign a replacement in January or the summer. Dalot’s name has entered their thinking, especially if he has not agreed a new contract with United by the end of this season.”

If Milan can agree on a fee with United, the deal should be easy to complete.

Manchester United are preparing to sell their right-back should they receive right offer for him.

Good signing for AC Milan?

If Dalot is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Milan.

Diogo Dalot has all the skillset required to be a success story at Milan. Therefore, it makes sense for Pioli to step up his attempts to bring the Portugal right-back to Serie A side.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Milan.

How strong that interest is and whether Milan will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
