Crystal Palace keen on Den Haag defender Wilfried Kanon
Crystal Palace need to strengthen their defense.
The reports in England suggested that Crystal Palace are set to sign Den Haag defender Wilfried Kanon.
The 25-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Ivory Coast international joined Den Haag from Corona Brașov on a free transfer in September 2013. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.
Kanon made 103 appearances across all competitions for Den Haag, scoring two goals and supplying five assists in return.
The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the best defenders in Ivory Coast.
As a member of Ivory Coast national football team, Kanon won 30 caps and he scored one goal.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Crystal Palace.
The report claims that Crystal Palace manager has extensively scouted Kanon and is considering a move for the defender.
Hodgson is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
Crystal Palace are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
Wilfried Kanon has the talent to play many roles in defense.
According to The Sun, “Eagles boss Roy Hodgson is looking to bolster defensive options in January and the Ivory Coast stopper is high on his shopping list. Hodgson is looking to sure up the Eagles defence and is short of central defenders with the experienced Scott Dann still missing with a long-term knee injury. The 25-year-old has been earning rave reviews in the Dutch top flight this term and a host of clubs in England and Spain are on red alert.”

Den Haag are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the defender, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.
