Chelsea target Samuel Chukwueze
Chelsea are showing strong interest in Samuel Chukwueze.
The latest reports in Spain suggest that Chelsea are targeting Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze.
In 54 appearances for Villarreal, Chukwueze has managed to score 11 goals, and create 5 goals for his teammates.
The 20-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Nigeria.
Samuel Chukwueze has represented Nigeria at Under-17 and Under-23 level, winning 8 caps and scoring 3 goals, before making his senior international debut in November 2018. As a member of Nigeria national football team, Chukwueze won 12 caps and he scored 2 goals.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Frank Lampard is looking to shore up his attacking options and Villarreal’s Chukwueze happens to be a target.
The Chelsea manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move this winter.
Chelsea are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
According to Football Espana, “Highly-rated Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze is on Chelsea’s transfer shortlist for January. The 20-year-old Nigerian is enjoying an impressive rise to prominence for the Yellow Submarine’s first-team squad after only making his debut in November last year. The Nigerian international is now a regular in Javi Calleja’s side having already made 16 appearances in La Liga this campaign and looks set to have a bright future at the top level. He penned a new deal at the club in October which is claimed to have a €100m release clause which will be in place for the next two years before dropping to €80m in the third year, which would allow the player to move for less and reward his loyalty.”

Villarreal would be wise to keep the Nigeria international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Undoubtedly he would be a fantastic recruit for Chelsea.
How strong that interest is and whether Chelsea will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
