It’s no secret that Chelsea are interested in Kalidou Koulibaly. But who isn’t?
The reports in England suggested that Chelsea are targeting Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The 30-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Senegal international was signed by Napoli in July 2014 from Genk for a fee of 7.75 million euros. The 30-year-old has a contract until 2023 with the club.
The defender registered one goal in 37 appearances across all competitions last season.
The 30-year-old is the best defender in Senegal. Koulibaly has earned 47 senior caps for the Senegal national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a new defender and Koulibaly is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
Kalidou Koulibaly is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side. His arrival would give Chelsea some much needed tactical flexibility.
According to the report, “Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is on Chelsea’s transfer radar. Football.London says Chelsea could turn their attention to signing Koulibaly after missing out on Jules Kounde. European champions Chelsea failed with their attempts to bring Kounde to Stamford Bridge from Sevilla this summer, but Thomas Tuchel remains keen to bring in defensive reinforcements. It’s claimed Senegal international Koulibaly will be targeted by Chelsea when the January transfer window opens. For the moment, Koulibaly is a key part of new Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti’s plans.”

Kalidou Koulibaly stands as an excellent option for Chelsea.
A defender of Koulibaly’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Chelsea squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Tuchel’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his defensive department.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Chelsea.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Chelsea come calling for Koulibaly this winter.
