Chelsea linked with fresh move for Moises Caicedo
When Chelsea set their eyes on a player, more often than not, they force their way into getting him. This time they have set their sights on Moises Caicedo, and the club are working hard to cut a deal with Brighton and Hove Albion for the midfielder.
As per British media, Chelsea are linked with fresh move for Moises Caicedo.
The 21-year-old has been with Brighton since 2020, having signed for the club from Independiente del Valle for 5 million euros. The Ecuador international’s current deal expires in 2025.
The midfielder has registered one goal and one assist in 21 matches for Brighton this season on all fronts.
He is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Ecuador. As a member of Ecuador national football team, Caicedo won 28 caps and he scored 3 goals.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Graham Potter wants to sign a new midfielder and Moises Caicedo is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. Potter is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
The former Independiente del Valle man will add a new dimension to Chelsea’s midfield.
According to the report, “Chelsea are readying a new bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo. The Blues have already failed with one offer for the Ecuador international. Caicedo has been the subject of strong interest from Chelsea and Liverpool as the underperforming sides seek to strengthen the centre of their respective midfields. Chelsea have tested Brighton with an initial offer of £55million and the Blues are now considering following that up with an improved bid for the midfield star. Graham Potter’s side are hoping to reinforce their midfield department this month and have identified Brighton’s Ecuador international as a potential option, says the Daily Mail. The Blues boss was the manager who signed Caicedo for Brighton two years ago and is keen on having a reunion with the midfielder at Stamford Bridge.”
Euro Football Rumours
The Seagulls are reluctant to let Moises Caicedo go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.
Chelsea will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Brighton to the negotiating table. The Blues have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.
Moises Caicedo ideal fit for Chelsea?
Signing the 21-year-old in the winter transfer window would be a masterstroke from Potter.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit at Stamford Bridge.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can beat their rivals to the midfielder’s signature.
