Chelsea join the hunt for Leeds winger Raphinha
In the modern world of football, the transfer season lasts year-round. While the literal transfers of players take place in the summer and winter windows, rumors, speculation and even concrete agreements can happen any time.
According to multiple reports emanating from England and Italy, Chelsea have joined the hunt for Leeds winger Raphinha.
The 25-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
Leeds spent 11 million euros to sign the Brazil international from Rennes in October 2020. The 25-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.
In 47 appearances for Leeds, Raphinha has managed to score 14 goals, and create 10 goals for his teammates.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
Raphinha has also left his mark at the international stage after netting two goals in five senior appearances for the Brazil national team.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a new winger and Raphinha is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.
This approach of signing exciting talent from different parts of the globe can reap rewards for Chelsea in the future.
There is no doubt that Raphinha will take Chelsea’s attack to a different level.
According to the report, “Chelsea have jumped into the battle for Leeds United winger Raphinha. Rumours emerged that Bayern Munich had come to an agreement to sign the former Rennes star but reports have insisted that a January transfer is off the cards. But a summer change could be on the way while Jurgen Klopp is a known fan of the winger as he looks to spruce up his attack with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all entering their 30s. However, Liverpool have themselves a battle on their hands with Chelsea interested in the Leeds star. Sport Italia reports the Blues are working on a deal that will bring the 26-year-old to Stamford Bridge in the summer. Raphinha has been in fantastic form for Leeds this year, scoring eight times in 16 Premier League appearances.”
Euro Football Rumours
Chelsea will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Leeds to the negotiating table. The Blues have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.
Leeds would be wise to keep the Brazil international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Good signing for Chelsea?
If Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel are seriously considering a winger, Raphinha could also prove to be a smart option.
A winger of Raphinha’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Chelsea squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Tuchel’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his attacking department.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Chelsea.
Will Raphinha be a Chelsea player soon? Only time will tell.
