Chelsea join the hunt for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz
There has been numerous midfielders linked with Chelsea in past few months.
According to multiple reports emanating from England, Chelsea have joined the hunt for Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz.
The 24-year-old has been subject to interest from various Premier League clubs.
The Brazil international was signed by Aston Villa in July 2019 from Manchester City for a fee of 16.8 million euros. He has a contract until 2023 with the club.
He has banged in two goals in seven matches for Aston Villa this term on all fronts.
The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Brazil. Luiz has earned nine senior caps for the Brazil national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
The midfielder has just 9 months remaining on his contract and Aston Villa may consider a deal in this transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Graham Potter is eager to add a midfielder to the squad. He wants an experienced player that can be a leader on and off the pitch for him. The report claims that Chelsea manager has extensively scouted Douglas Luiz and is considering a move for the midfielder.
Luiz is a skilled midfielder who can make a difference at both ends of the pitch. The former Manchester City man has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

The Birmingham Mail says Chelsea are looking to hijack a deal for Aston Villa ace and Arsenal target Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window. The midfielder’s contract runs out in June 2023 and it will be difficult for Villa to demand a high asking price with clubs eligible to begin pre-contract talks in January. The Blues joined in amid uncertainty surrounding N’Golo Kante and Jorginho’s future.”
