Chelsea eyeing move for Malmo centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic

In the modern world of football, the transfer season lasts year-round. While the literal transfers of players take place in the summer and winter windows, rumors, speculation and even concrete agreements can happen any time.

According to the football transfer rumours in Swedish and British media, Chelsea are eyeing move for Malmo centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic.

The 21-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international joined Malmo from Nottingham Forest in 2019. His contract expires in the winter of 2023.

The 21-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ahmedhodzic has earned two senior caps for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.

His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.

Frank Lampard wants to sign a new centre-back and Ahmedhodzic is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

This approach of signing exciting talent from different parts of the globe can reap rewards for Chelsea in the future.

The Blues will have funds to spend in the market and it will be interesting to see how they approach the winter transfer window.

The Malmo centre-back heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third.

According to the report, “Chelsea are tracking Malmo youngster Anel Ahmedhodzic. Expressen reports the talented youngster is on their radar and the Blues could offer just over £7million for the defender. It is likely the former Nottingham Forest ace, 21, would be seen as an investment and sent out on loan to continue his development. He has established himself as a first-team regular at Swedish side Malmo where he is contracted until 2023.”

If Chelsea are genuinely interested, a deal would not be impossible to complete.

Good signing for Chelsea?

It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.

The 21-year-old is a promising young centre-back and could be a good addition to Chelsea’s squad.

Given Ahmedhodzic’s talent and potential, he would be a very good signing for Chelsea in the long run.

How strong that interest is and whether Chelsea will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
