When it comes to the transfer market, Borussia Dortmund are simply one of the best in the business.
The latest reports in Germany suggest that Borussia Dortmund are targeting Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.
The France international was signed by United in September 2015 from Lyon for a fee of 60 million euros. The 25-year-old has a contract until 2024 with the club.
In 264 appearances for Manchester United, Martial has managed to score 78 goals, and create 50 goals for his teammates.
The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the best forwards in France. As a member of France national football team, Martial won 30 caps and he scored two goals.
He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Manchester United and the list of suitors in the France international continues to grow.
Adding a forward remains Borussia Dortmund’s top priority and Marco Rose will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming months.
BVB have built a reputation for recruiting talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Martial is a dynamic forward, who possesses good technical skills and ball control. His tricky dribbling, fantastic shot and pace make him a nightmare for any defender to defend.
Anthony Martial has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Borussia Dortmund are watching closely Anthony Martial’s situation at Manchester United. Sport1 says Martial is among the list of Borussia Dortmund targets to replace Erling Haaland if he is to leave the German club this summer – but the Manchester United striker is deemed too expensive at present. Martial finds himself as United’s third-choice striker with Edinson Cavani also ahead of him, while Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho are preferred out wide. Even Paul Pogba is now being used in the left-sided position by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Martial has played just 190 minutes in six appearances for United so far this season. Dortmund’s scouting staff have been told to look for players between the ages of 19 and 24 who they can sign for a smaller fee, like Haaland. But Martial is 25 and would command a substantial fee.”

BVB might have to pay over the odds to sign the forward.
Manchester United would be wise to keep the France international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Good signing for Borussia Dortmund?
If Martial is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Borussia Dortmund.
He has all the skillset required to be a success story at Dortmund. Therefore, it makes sense for Rose to step up his attempts to bring the France forward to Bundesliga side.
How strong that interest is and whether BVB will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
