Besiktas appear to have a genuine interest in signing Peniel Mlapa this summer.
According to the football transfer rumours in Dutch media, Besiktas are linked with surprise move for VVV striker Peniel Mlapa.
This season, Mlapa has scored 15 goals and provided 3 assists in 32 appearances for VVV.
The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Togo. As a member of Togo national football team, Peniel Mlapa won 9 caps.
Abdullah Avcı wants to sign a new striker and Mlapa is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.
The Togo international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of striker Avcı wants to target in the summer transfer window.
According to Football Oranje, “Despite only signing a permanent deal with the club last week, Peniel Mlapa could be leaving VVV Venlo for Besiktas. The 28-year-old striker was loaned to VVV Venlo last season from Dynamo Dresden. After he scored 15 goals in the Eredivisie, VVV used an option in the contract to make the deal permanent last week. According to De Limburger, VVV could now be looking to sell Mlapa for a profit. Clubs from China, Turkey, Japan and the UAE are interested in the forward. Besiktas are among those clubs and have already made contact with the club. VVV have confirmed the contact to De Limburger and state they would only consider selling should they receive an offer above €2.5 million.”
