Bayern Munich in advanced talks to bring Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria
When Bayern Munich set their eyes on a player, more often than not, they force their way into getting him. This time they have set their sights on Denis Zakaria, and the club are working hard to cut a deal with Borussia Monchengladbach for the midfielder.
As per British and German media, Bayern Munich are in advanced talks to bring Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The 23-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Switzerland international was signed by Borussia Monchengladbach in July 2017 from Young Boys for a fee of 12 million euros. The 23-year-old has a contract until 2022 with the club.
In 96 appearances for Borussia, Zakaria has managed to score 8 goals, and create 6 goals for his teammates.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 23-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
Denis Zakaria has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 3 goals in 28 senior appearances for the Switzerland national team.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Bayern are looking to sign a midfielder and have identified the 23-year-old as potential transfer target. They have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Hans-Dieter Flick is a long term admirer of Zakaria and believes he can get the most out of the Switzerland international.
His arrival would give Bayern Munich some much needed tactical flexibility.
Bayern Munich are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
According to the report, “Bayern Munich are ready to challenge Manchester City for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria. Sky Deutschland says there’s been multiple rounds of talks between Bayern and Zakaria’s minders in recent weeks. The 23-year-old midfielder is under contract with Gladbach until 2022. A knee injury has forced him to watch from the sidelines since March – but he is currently in training. News of Bayern’s approach arrives after BILD reported City are in contact with Gladbach and preparing to offer €40m for the Switzerland international. In need for a long-term replacement for Fernandinho, City have identified Zakaria as a solution.”

Bayern Munich will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Borussia to the negotiating table. Bayern have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.
Borussia Monchengladbach would be wise to keep the Switzerland international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Good signing for Bayern Munich?
Denis Zakaria has all the skillset required to be a success story at Bayern. Therefore, it makes sense for Flick to step up his attempts to bring the Switzerland midfielder to Bundesliga side.
Although he may not be an immediate improvement to the squad, he could be a valuable signing for the future if he continues to progress at this rate.
How strong that interest is and whether Bayern will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
