Over the past couple of weeks, there has been intense speculation over the future of Vanderson at Monaco.
Reports in the British media claim that Barcelona are willing to buy Monaco right-back Vanderson.
The Brazil international only joined AS Monaco from Grêmio in January 2022 for 11 million euros and his contract runs to June 2027.
He has featured in 11 matches this term in all competitions.
The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Brazil.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Barcelona.
The report details that Xavi feels his defense currently lacks some bite and that he could strengthen this winter. Xavi is a long term admirer of Vanderson and believes he can get the most out of the Brazil international.
The former Grêmio man can also play as a full-back, offering Xavi a different option should he change his formation at Barcelona.
According to the report, “FC Barcelona are reigniting their interest to sign Brazilian right back Vanderson from AS Monaco. The 21-year-old was already targeted by the Blaugrana in the recently closed summer transfer window, and has remained on their shortlist for a position that is understocked at Camp Nou. Head coach Xavi Hernandez didn’t trust Sergino Dest, who followed veteran Daniel Alves out of the exit door on loan to AC Milan, and Hector Bellerin has only been signed on a temporary deal until the end of the season. Even if Barca were to be convinced by their former academy star Bellerin and make his stay permanent, they still need back-up in the position for the 27-year-old and interest in Brazilian talent Vanderson has been resparked.”
