Barcelona target Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth
There has been numerous goalkeepers linked with Barcelona in past few months.
Reports in the British media claim that Barcelona are targeting Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
The 20-year-old has been subject to interest from various Premier League clubs.
The England international joined Brighton from Halifax Town in January 2019. His contract expires in the summer of 2023. In July 2021, Rushworth was sent to Walsall on a season-long loan.
Since his arrival from Brighton, Rushworth has conceded 11 goals and provided two clean sheets in 9 games for Walsall in all competitions this season.
The 20-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in England.
Barca are looking to sign a goalkeeper and have identified the 20-year-old as potential transfer target.
Ronald Koeman has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.
According to the report, “Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth is emerging as a surprise target for Spanish giants Barcelona. The Catalan club are impressed with the 20-year-old’s displays at Walsall, where he is on loan. According to the Daily Mirror, the 6ft 3in star has been attracting scouts from around England and Europe, with Barca the latest to send a scout to watch him in League Two. Rushworth saved a penalty, his fourth of the season, in a 2-1 loss against Newport. He has yet to make a first team appearance for Brighton.”

If Barcelona are genuinely interested, a deal would not be impossible to complete.
Brighton would be wise to keep the England international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Good signing for Barcelona?
If Rushworth is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Barcelona.
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
How strong that interest is and whether Barca will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
