Barcelona poised to land Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne

The Napoli forward has been identified as one of the club’s potential targets as Ronald Koeman looks to add more reinforcements in the attacking unit.

Reports in the British and Italian media claim Barcelona are poised to land Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne.

The forward has banged in 19 goals and provided 11 assists in 48 matches this term on all fronts.

The forward has just one year left on his deal and he is yet to sign a new contract. The Italy international has openly expressed his desire to play at a higher level. This gives an indication that Lorenzo Insigne probably won’t commit his future at the club.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Barcelona.

The Spanish giants are looking to sign a forward and have identified the 30-year-old as potential transfer target. Ronald Koeman is a firm fan of Napoli forward and Barcelona could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

Barcelona are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

Insigne is a dynamic forward, who possesses good technical skills and ball control. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Ronald Koeman’s side.

According to the report, “Barcelona are eyeing Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne. SportItalia says the Italy international’s current deal with Napoli runs until 2022 and the 30-year-old has yet to renew his contract with his boyhood club. Barcelona could be interested in signing Insigne this summer, as Napoli would be willing to avoid losing him on a free next summer should he not extend his deal. Insigne has attracted interest from more European clubs, but he will wait until the end of the 2020 European Championship to hear offers, as his salary demands could rise should he stand out at the tournament. The Napoli forward has scored 109 goals in 397 official matches for the Partenopei, including a goal at the Camp Nou in Barcelona’s 3-1 victory last August.”

If Barcelona are genuinely interested, a deal would not be impossible to complete.

Good signing for Barcelona?

If Insigne is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Barcelona.

A forward of Lorenzo Insigne’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Barcelona squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Koeman’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his attacking department.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Barcelona.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona make their move for the 30-year-old in the coming days.
