Barcelona linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte
Barcelona appear to have a genuine interest in signing Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte this winter.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media, Barcelona are linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao star Aymeric Laporte.
The France international has joined Athletic Bilbao from Bilbao Athletic in December 2012. The 23-year-old has a valid contract with Athletic Bilbao until June 2020.
Laporte has played 213 times for Athletic Bilbao since signing from Bilbao Athletic, scoring 10 goals and creating three assists.
The France international has been in fantastic form for Athletic Bilbao this season.
Aymeric Laporte has represented France at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 51 caps and scoring three goals.
The 23-year-old is high in demand this winter, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Athletic Bilbao this term.
Barcelona will be desperate to make an impact in winter transfer window.

According to the report in Spanish media, Barcelona are looking to land Aymeric Laporte, but their manager Ernesto Valverde is apparently against the move as he doesn’t want to raid his former club for their top players. The France international was also the subject of interest from Chelsea and Manchester City last summer, just a year after penning a new deal with a 68 million euros release clause.
How strong that interest is and whether Barcelona will make a winter move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
