Barcelona eyeing Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva

According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish Media, Barcelona are eyeing Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Bernardo Silva has joined Monaco from Benfica for a fee in the region of 15.75 million euros in 2015. The 22 year-old has a valid contract with Monaco until June 2020.

Since his arrival from Benfica, Bernardo Silva has scored 25 goals and provided 14 assists in 123 games for Monaco, including eight goals and provided seven assists in 34 games in all competition this season.

The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in the Ligue 1.

Bernardo Silva has represented Portugal at Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 27 caps and scoring eight goals, before making his senior international debut in March 2015. He has won nine caps and scored one goal.

The Portugal international is a player who has impressed many European Clubs in the last few seasons, and it is understood that Barcelona manager Luis Enrique would prefer playing him at midfield position, as a replacement for Andre Gomes.

Premier League giants Manchester United are apparently trailing Barcelona in the pursuit of Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Euro Football Rumours were informed that Monaco valuate Bernardo Silva in the region of 70 million euros.

How strong that interest is and whether Barcelona will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
