It’s no secret that Barcelona are interested in Raheem Sterling. But who isn’t?
As per British and Spanish media, Barcelona are keen on Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling.
Manchester City spent 63.7 million euros to sign the England international from Liverpool in the summer of 2015. The 26-year-old has two years left on his current contract which expires in 2023.
The winger has featured in 49 matches this term, netting 14 goals and providing 12 assists in all competitions.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best wingers in England. Sterling has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 14 goals in 61 senior appearances for the England national team.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Barcelona.
Ronald Koeman wants to sign a new winger and Sterling is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a firm fan of Manchester City winger and Barcelona could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Spanish giants are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
There is no doubt that Sterling will take Barcelona’s attack to a different level. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Koeman’s side.
According to the report, “Barcelona are weighing up a move for Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling. Barca see Sterling as a replacement for Ousmane Dembele. Sport says Barca have now sensed an opportunity and believe they will be able to raise the funds for at least one big summer signing, of which Sterling is now a leading candidate. Sterling is seen as an ideal alternative for Ousmane Dembele, whose contract at the club is running down and his future remains up in the air. Cash-strapped Barca are said to be willing to include players in any potential deal, in order to get the formalities over the line. Sterling, 26, has a contract with City until 2023 but in the final stretch of the season, he found himself out of favour with manager Pep Guardiola and would likely listen to offers in the coming weeks.”
