The midfielder has provided two assists in five matches for Ajax this term on all fronts.

The 18-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Netherlands.

Gravenberch has represented Netherlands at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 33 caps and scoring 3 goals.

His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.

Barcelona are looking to sign a midfielder and have identified the 18-year-old as potential transfer target.

Koeman has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.

According to the report, “Barcelona are set to return to Ajax in the coming months for another transfer target. Barca clinched the signing of Sergino Dest from Ajax over the summer and Tuttosport says they’re planning to return to Amsterdam for midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. The young Dutchman is also interesting Juventus. However, Barca are expected to have an edge in any transfer battle thanks to the presence of former Holland coach Ronald Koeman. In June, Gravenberch signed a new deal with Ajax to 2023 and he counts on Mino Raola as his agent. Unlike with Barca, Raiola enjoys a close relationship with Juve.”

Ajax are reluctant to let Gravenberch go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.

Good signing for Barcelona?

It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.

The 18-year-old is a promising young midfielder and could be a good addition to Barcelona’s squad.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Barcelona.

The ball is in Barcelona’s court and they need to take a decision on signing Gravenberch.

How strong that interest is and whether Barcelona will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
