Atletico Madrid submit bid for Vasco da Gama forward Paulinho

Atletico Madrid appear to have taken a step forward in their pursuit of Paulinho.

The 17-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

According to a report from AS, Atletico Madrid have submitted bid for Vasco da Gama forward Paulinho.

The Brazil international made 24 appearances across all competitions for Vasco da Gama, scoring five goals and supplying three assists in return.

The 17-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Brazil.

Paulinho has represented Brazil at Under-17 level, winning 22 caps and scoring five goals.

The Brazil international will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Vasco da Gama this term.

Diego Simeone wants to sign a new forward and Paulinho is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The Atletico Madrid manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move in the coming transfer window.

According to AS (via La Gazzetta dello Sport and Diário Carioca), “La Gazzetta dello Sport and Brazilian daily Diário Carioca both reported that Atlético have made an offer of 14 million euros but that was rejected by Vasco de Gama, who pointed to Paulinho’s 30-million-euro release clause. AC Milan, Inter Milan and PSG are also credited with an interest in Paulinho, who seems destined for a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs sooner rather than later.”

Vasco da Gama are preparing to sell their forward should they receive a massive offer for him.

The 17-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current Atletico Madrid squad and would be a good buy in the summer transfer window.

If he turns out to be a star like many expect, it could be one of the club’s smartest transfers.
