Atletico Madrid poised to land Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo

It’s been a transfer window full of surprises, and Atletico could be set to carry on this trend.

If a report from tribalfootball.com is to be believed, Atletico Madrid are poised to land Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United spent 15 million euros to sign the Portugal international from Juventus in the summer of 2021. The 37-year-old has one year left (with option for a further year) on his current contract which expires in 2023.

The striker finished the 2021/22 season with a tally of 24 goals and 3 assists from 38 matches across all competitions.

The Portugal international will turn 38 next season but still has a lot to offer at the top level.

His record for Portugal is also impressive. Ronaldo has scored 117 goals in 189 matches for Portugal at senior level.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been one of the star players for Manchester United last season.

He is believed to be available for transfer, with Diego Simeone now keen to bring him to Atletico Madrid.

The report details that Simeone feels his attack currently lacks some bite and that he could strengthen this summer. He is a firm fan of Manchester United striker and Atletico Madrid could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

The former Juventus man provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker.

There is no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo will take Atletico Madrid’s attack to a different level. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

According to the report, “Atletico Madrid are moving for wantaway Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo. AS says former Real Madrid star Ronaldo could be on his way to city rivals Atletico Madrid in what would be a dagger to the hearts of all Los Blancos fans. Ronaldo, 37, has requested United listen to offers for him this summer. His representatives have made contact with Diego Simeone’s side and persuaded the Argentine manager to make a move for the player. Ronaldo would relish the chance to play Champions League football once again, and with other clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich distancing themselves from the Portuguese legend, Atletico would give him the opportunity to do so. It’s been suggested the veteran can leave United for a fee of £12m.”

The Spanish giants will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Ronaldo to join the club.

Manchester United are preparing to sell their striker should they receive right offer for him.

Good signing for Atletico Madrid?

If Ronaldo is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Atletico.

A striker of Cristiano Ronaldo’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Atletico Madrid squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Simeone’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his attacking department.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Madrid.

How strong that interest is and whether Atletico will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
