The Belgium international has joined Chelsea from Genk for a fee in the region of 9 million euros in July 2011. The 25-year-old has a valid contract with Chelsea until June 2019. In July 2011, Courtois was sent to Atletico Madrid on a three-seasons-long loan.
Thibaut Courtois has conceded 123 goals and provided 46 clean sheets in 125 games for Chelsea, including conceded 18 goals and 7 clean sheets in 17 games in all competitions this season.
The Belgium international has been in outstanding form for Chelsea this season.
Thibaut Courtois has represented Belgium at Under-18 level, winning 4 caps, before making his senior international debut in November 2011. As a member of Belgium national football team, Courtois has won 55 caps.
The goalkeeper’s contract at Chelsea is about to expire in 18 months and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with Atletico Madrid showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to their team.
The Belgium international is thought to perfectly fit the goalkeeper Diego Simeone wants to target.
Diego Simeone is a long term admirer of Thibaut Courtois and believes he can get the most out of the Belgium international.
Atletico Madrid will be desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

According to the report in British media, Atletico Madrid see Courtois as a replacement for Jan Oblak, should they lose him in the summer. Paris Saint-Germain are chasing Oblak amid claims they’d be willing to pay an incredible 100 million euros to take him to Paris. With such funds available, Atletico Madrid would then go directly to Chelsea about a deal for Courtois. A return to Atletico would suit the Belgium international, with his former partner and two children now living in Madrid.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Atletico Madrid come calling for Courtois next July.
