Athletic Bilbao linked with shock Kepa Arrizabalaga move
Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa is a target for Athletic Bilbao in the summer transfer window.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Athletic Bilbao are linked with shock Kepa Arrizabalaga move.
The Spain international was signed by Chelsea in August 2018 from Athletic Bilbao for a fee of 80 million euros. The 25-year-old has a contract until 2025 with the club.
Since his arrival from Athletic Bilbao, Kepa has conceded 94 goals and provided 29 clean sheets in 85 games for Chelsea.
The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in Spain. As a member of Spain national football team, Kepa won 10 caps.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is currently out of favor at Chelsea and could leave the club this summer.
Gaizka Garitano is a known admirer of the goalkeeper and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.
Athletic Bilbao are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
According to the report, “Athletic Bilbao are keen to re-sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. The Sun says Bilbao are monitoring former goalkeeper Kepa’s predicament after he was dropped by Frank Lampard for Chelsea’s 2-2 draw at Leicester. The La Liga club are interested in re-signing their academy graduate, however the ‘keeper’s hefty wage demands could become problematic. Kepa divided Blues fans last season when he refused to be substituted during the Carabao Cup final defeat by Manchester City, and it seems he may have played his last game for the club. His replacement Willy Caballlero was unconvincing in the score draw at the King Power Stadium, but Lampard is expected to put his faith in the veteran for the remainder of the season.”

It will be interesting to see what happens when Athletic Bilbao come calling for Kepa this summer.
