Atalanta keen on Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares

When it comes to the transfer market, Atalanta are simply one of the best in the business.

According to multiple reports emanating from England, Atalanta are keen on Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares.

The Gunners spent 8 million euros to sign the Portugal international from Benfica in the summer of 2021. The 22-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2025.

In 27 appearances for Arsenal, Tavares has managed to score one goal, and create two goals for his teammates.

The 22-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Portugal.

Nuno Tavares has represented Portugal at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 30 caps and scoring two goals.

The Portugal international left-back has struggled to adapt to English football and he could be made available this summer.

Gian Piero Gasperini wants to sign a new left-back and Tavares is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

Atalanta have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential. They are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

The former Benfica man will offer the Atalanta boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.

According to the report, “Atalanta have confirmed their interest in Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares. The Portugal U21 international could be pushed out of the Emirates as Arsenal look to sign Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez. Serie A club Atalanta are keen on his signature, but their head of senior recruitment, Lee Congerton, admits it will be difficult to sign the 22-year-old.”
