Aston Villa will look to sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks

The Tottenham player has been identified as one of the club’s potential targets as Dean Smith looks to add more reinforcements in the midfield unit.

Reports in the British media claim that Aston Villa will look to sign Harry Winks.

The 25-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.

The midfielder has banged in two goals and provided two assists in 30 matches for Tottenham last term on all fronts.

He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

The Tottenham midfielder has also represented the England at various youth levels before going on to secure 10 senior caps for his country thus far.

The England international is believed to be available for transfer, with Smith now keen to bring him to Aston Villa.

Dean Smith wants to sign a new midfielder and Winks is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a firm fan of Tottenham midfielder and Aston Villa could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

Winks is a skilled midfielder who can make a difference at both ends of the pitch. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

According to the report,”Villa are looking to bolster their ranks after a promising 2020-21 season ended with a mid-table finish. Emiliano Buendia has already arrived in a club-record transfer and they now want further reinforcements in midfield. James Ward-Prowse of Southampton appears to be a major target, as does Emile Smith Rowe of Arsenal. However, the latter’s price tag is increasing by the minute. Clearly, Villa are looking for players in both phases of their midfield. Winks would be an interesting option to consider if he can rediscover the promise he was showing earlier in his career. Tottenham have appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as their new head coach. He may have different plans for Winks than predecessor Jose Mourinho did, but it seems unlikely. In fact, Spurs are ready to listen to offers. Therefore, a move could be in the best interests of all parties. If they firm up their interest, Villa will have to work out how much they think Winks is worth. Tottenham have him under contract until 2024, so could in theory still command a decent fee.”
