Aston Villa linked with Bologna prodigy Aaron Hickey

There has been numerous left-backs linked with Aston Villa in past few months.

The latest reports in England suggest that Aston Villa are linked with Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey.

The Scotland international joined Bologna from Heart of Midlothian for a fee in the region of 2 million euros in September 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2024.

The 19-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Scotland. Hickey has represented Scotland at Under-17 level, winning three caps.

He has been in impressive form for Bologna this season and it looks like he caught the eye of many European clubs including Aston Villa.

Villans are looking to sign a left-back and have identified the 19-year-old as potential transfer target.

The report claims that Aston Villa manager has extensively scouted Hickey and is considering a move for the left-back. Dean Smith is a long term admirer of Aaron Hickey and believes he can get the most out of the Scotland international.

Hickey is a skilled left-back who can make a difference at both ends of the pitch. The left-back can also play as a full-back, offering Smith a different option should he change his formation at Aston Villa.

The Sun says the Scottish youngster, 19, is a hit with Serie A side Bologna after his move from Hearts and Villa are taking an increasing interest. Scottish giants Celtic and other English clubs are also keen but sources close to Hickey claim he is happy in Italy. The left-back has made seven appearances for the Serie A side this season, and he has found the back of the net on two occasions. In the summer, Hickey expressed his desire to focus on playing for Bologna.”
