Aston Villa eyeing Weston McKennie

There has been numerous midfielders linked with Aston Villa in past few months.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Aston Villa are eyeing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

The 23-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The USA international joined Juventus from Schalke 04 for a fee in the region of 20.5 million euros. His contract expires in the summer of 2025.

In 47 appearances for Juventus, McKennie has managed to score 6 goals, and create 3 goals for his teammates.

The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in USA.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Aston Villa.

The English club are looking to sign a midfielder and have identified the 23-year-old as potential transfer target.

The report claims that Aston Villa manager has extensively scouted Weston McKennie and is considering a move for the midfielder. Dean Smith is a long term admirer of McKennie and believes he can get the most out of the USA international.

There is no doubt that McKennie will take Aston Villa’s midfield to a different level.

According to the report, “Aston Villa are targeting a January deal for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie. The midfielder, 23, was available late in this summer’s market — but no club would commit to a loan deal that would also include a guaranteed buy. The Sun says Villa are keen on the former Schalke player, who has been told he can find a new home as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Villa are likely to be without key men Emiliano Martinez and Emi Buendia with the pair facing a long quarantine. The Argentina pair will stay the entire length of the international break in South America. Because the country is on the red list they will have to quarantine at a government-approved hotel for ten days when they return.”

Aston Villa have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the USA international.

Everton are apparently trailing Villa in the pursuit of Juventus midfielder.

Good signing for Aston Villa?

If Weston McKennie is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Aston Villa.

McKennie has all the skillset required to be a success story at Aston Villa. Therefore, it makes sense for Smith to step up his attempts to bring the USA midfielder to Premier League side.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Aston Villa come calling for McKennie this winter.
