AS Roma will look to sign Eric Bailly

It is an open secret that Roma need to sign a centre-back.

As per British and Italian media, Roma will look to sign Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly.

The Ivory Coast international joined Manchester United from Villarreal for a fee in the region of 38 million euros in July 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2024.

In 106 appearances for United, Bailly has managed to score one goal, and create one goal for his teammates.

The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Ivory Coast. Bailly has also left his mark at the international stage after netting two goals in 36 senior appearances for the Ivory Coast national team.

The centre-back is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Manchester United this summer and the list of suitors in the Ivory Coast international continues to grow.

Roma are looking to sign a centre-back and have identified the 27-year-old as potential transfer target.

The Ivory Coast international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Jose Mourinho wants to target in the summer transfer window.

The Italian giants are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

The centre-back heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third.

Bailly revealed a private phone call with his former boss in May after Mourinho parted company with the North London club. The pair were reported to have enjoyed a warm relationship during the former Chelsea and Tottenham boss’ time in charge at Old Trafford.”

Considering they don’t have a big budget, Roma will have to be smart with the signings in the transfer window.

If Roma can tie up a cheap deal for the player, it may not be a bad signing by any means.

The Red Devils are preparing to sell their centre-back should they receive right offer for him.

If Bailly is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Roma.

AS Roma could benefit by signing Eric Bailly as the centre-back is one of the areas of concern for Mourinho.

A move away from United will not be only the best move for Bailly, but also for the club.

A centre-back of Bailly’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Roma squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Mourinho’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his defensive department.
