AS Roma targetfrom Fiorentina to boost their defensive options.
According to a report from Calciomercato, AS Roma are linked with a move for Fiorentina centre-back Germán Pezzella.
Fiorentina spent 9.75 million euros to sign the Argentina international from Betis in 2018. The 28-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2022.
Pezzella made 74 appearances across all competitions for Fiorentina, scoring 3 goals and supplying 2 assists.
The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Argentina. As a member of Argentina national football team, Pezzella won 10 caps and he scored one goal.
Paulo Fonseca wants to sign a new centre-back and Germán Pezzella is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. Fonseca is a long term admirer of Pezzella and believes he can get the most out of the Argentina international.
Germán Pezzella is a traditional defender. He is solid while defending and holds his position perfectly.
According to Calciomercato, “Roma are still interested in Fiorentina defender Germán Pezzella to reinforce their defence. The 28-year-old central defender, contracted with la Viola until 2022, has appeared in all of Fiorentina’s league games so far this season and has impressed, despite his side’s winless start to the league. Despite signing English defender Chris Smalling on loan from Premier League side Manchester City earlier in the summer on loan, the Giallorossi are still keen to strengthen their options.”

Fiorentina are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the centre-back, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.
Undoubtedly Pezzella would be a fantastic recruit for Roma.
