The upcoming summer will see Arsenal improving their midfield department.
As per British and Spanish media, Arsenal will look to sign Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
The 27-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
Real Betis spent 3 million euros to sign the Argentina international from América in the winter of 2020. The 27-year-old has a valid contract with Betis until June 2024.
The midfielder has featured in 34 matches for Real Betis this term, netting two goals in all competitions.
Rodriguez has earned 10 senior caps for the Argentina national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Mikel Arteta wants to sign a new midfielder and Rodriguez is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The report details that Arteta feels his midfield currently lacks some bite and that he could strengthen this summer.
The Argentina international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfielder Arteta wants to target in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
There is no doubt that Guido Rodriguez will take Arsenal’s midfield to a different level.
According to the report, “Arsenal will submit a bid for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez ‘within a month’. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta bolstered his midfield on last October’s transfer deadline day, securing a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey. While the Ghanian has added steel to the side, the January loan signing of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid brought much-needed creativity. Nevertheless, this summer’s window will prove another crucial one as the Gunners look to progress from this season’s poor Premier League showing. Rodriguez is one player whose name has emerged as a potential target this year. The 27-year-old moved to La Liga from his native Argentina in January 2020 and signed a four-year deal. That contract featured an €80million (£70million) release clause, but according to El Desmarque, the Spanish club are willing to accept a much lower fee.”
