Roma star Kostas Manolas is a target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Arsenal are linked with surprise move for Roma defender Kostas Manolas.
The Greece international was signed by Roma in August 2014 from Olympiacos for a fee of 15 million euros. The 27-year-old has a contract until 2022 with the club.
Manolas has played 206 times for Roma since signing from Olympiacos, scoring 8 goals and creating 7 assists in that time. He is 27-year-old and has his peak years ahead.
As a member of Greece national football team, Kostas Manolas won 39 caps and he scored one goal.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Arsenal.
Arsenal have built a reputation for recruiting talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Manolas has been long term target of Unai Emery as the manager look to bolster his defensive options for the next season.
According to Calciomercato, “Kostas Manolas is undoubtedly one of the most sought after Roma players with a number of big European clubs monitoring his situation ahead of a summer in which he is expected to leave the capital club. As the journalist Nicolò Schira reports on his Twitter profile, Arsenal’s interest in the Greek is very strong, with the English club ‘enticed’ by the 36 million euro termination clause on the defender’s contract. Contacts are currently underway between the Gunners’ management and Mino Raiola, the player’s agent. Arsenal’s interest could hinge on whether they beat Chelsea in the Europa League final next week, as they are expected to have a meagre transfer budget should they not qualify for next season’s Champions League.”
