The reports in England suggested that Arsenal are linked with shock Jorginho move.
Chelsea spent 57 million euros to sign the Italy international from Napoli in the summer of 2018. The 28-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2023.
In 100 appearances for Chelsea, Jorginho has managed to score 10 goals, and create 3 goals for his teammates.
The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Italy.
Jorginho has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 4 goals in 23 senior appearances for the Italy national team.
Mikel Arteta is keen to secure at least one more signing this summer, and Jorginho could very well be a man under consideration. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this autumn.
The Italy international will offer the Arsenal boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.
According to the report, “Arsenal are eyeing a shock move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho. Sky Sports says the Gunners had identified Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey as their main targets for the summer window, but they are yet to make any kind of breakthrough with either. However, Jorginho has now emerged as a target for manager Mikel Arteta. The Arsenal boss was part of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City set-up when they wanted to sign the Italian from Napoli back in 2018. However, Jorginho opted to follow his manager Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea instead and remains in their midfield options under Frank Lampard. The 28-year-old has started both Premier League matches this season for Chelsea, but has tough competition for places with N’Golo Kante, Matteo Kovacic and Billy Gilmour all specialising in the deeper-lying role too.”
