Arsenal keen to land RB Leipzig young star Dayot Upamecano

Arsenal appear to have a genuine interest in signing Dayot Upamecano this summer.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Arsenal are keen to land RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

The France international was signed by RB Leipzig in January 2017 from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of 10 million euros. The 20-year-old has a contract until 2021 with the club.

Dayot Upamecano made 75 appearances across all competitions for RB Leipzig, scoring 3 goals in return.

The 20-year-old is a great talent, almost always reliable when played.

Upamecano has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 38 caps and scoring one goal.

The France international has impressed in the Bundesliga this season and is starting to attract the interest of bigger clubs.

Unai Emery has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe. He is a long term admirer of Upamecano and believes he can get the most out of the France international.

Arsenal are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

According to ESPN FC, the Gunners want to add a younger defender to ease the burden on their older centre-backs. With transfer funds tight amid missing out on a Champions League spot, the Gunners will look at Upamecano, 20, as a gettable target. They have not made an official bid, but it is imminent.”

RB Leipzig are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the centre-back, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

Signing the 20-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Unai Emery.
