Arsenal keen on Mehdi Taremi
Mehdi Taremi’s time at Porto could soon end as a whole host of clubs are lining up to sign him.
According to multiple reports emanating from England, Arsenal are keen on Porto striker Mehdi Taremi.
The Iranian international joined Porto from Rio Ave for a fee in the region of 4.7 million euros in August 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2024.
Mehdi Taremi has scored 62 goals in 116 games for Porto since joining the club in 2020.
The 30-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Iran. His record for Iran is also impressive. Taremi has scored 29 goals in 64 matches for Iran at senior level.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
The Gunners have earmarked Porto striker as their target, with Mikel Arteta being a ‘huge admirer’ of the player. The report claims that Arsenal manager has extensively scouted Taremi and is considering a move for the striker.
Arsenal will have funds to spend in the market and it will be interesting to see how they approach the winter transfer window.
The former Rio Ave man provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His versatile nature can help the manager to be more flexible with the formations.
According to the report, “Arsenal remain keen on Porto centre-forward Mehdi Taremi. O Jogo says Arsenal have renewed their interest in the striker after he put in a couple of good performances in the World Cup for Iran. The 30-year-old scored twice and assisted another in three games in Qatar but couldn’t help guide his nation to the knockout stages. Taremi returns to Porto ahead of the return of Liga NOS and Champions League football but faces doubt over his future. The striker enters the final 18 months of his deal at the Estadio do Dragao and it’s reported that Porto may sell the striker should he refuse to commit his future at the club. Valued at €20million (£17million), the Iranian has enjoyed a good season himself with 13 goals in 20 games – including five in five Champions League games.”

Good signing for Arsenal?
If Arsenal and Arteta are seriously considering a striker, Taremi could also prove to be a smart option.
