Arsenal keen on Christopher Nkunku
The midfield department of the Arsenal squad needs quality additions this winter.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Arsenal are keen on RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku.
The 23-year-old has been with RB Leipzig since 2019, having signed for the club from Paris Saint-Germain for 13 million euros. The France international’s current deal expires in 2024.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 23-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
Nkunku has represented France at Under-16, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 24 caps.
He has been in impressive form for Leipzig this season and it looks like he caught the eye of many European clubs including Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta wants to sign a new midfielder and Nkunku is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.
The Gunners have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Arteta is a long term admirer of Nkunku and believes he can get the most out of the France international.
Arsenal are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
Christopher Nkunku would provide a good variety to Arsenal’s midfield.
According to the report, “RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku is interesting Arsenal. The Athletic says the Gunners are desperate to land a creative player next month and the 23-year-old is one of the names on their list of targets. The search, which is being led by technical director Edu, has brought Leipzig’s Nkunku into the picture. The French midfielder is versatile, having played right across the midfield under Julian Nagelsmann this season, and has been on the Gunners’ radar since former head of recruitment Sven Mislintat pushed for his signing the January 2019 window. Nkunku has scored three goals and registered three assists across 16 games in all competitions for Leipzig this season and was in brilliant form before picking up an ankle injury earlier this month.”

RB Leipzig are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the midfielder, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal. If Arsenal can agree on a fee with Leipzig, the deal should be easy to complete.
Christopher Nkunku ideal fit for Arsenal?
If Nkunku is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Arsenal.
Christopher Nkunku is still quite young and he will only get better with experience. He would be a good long term investment for Arsenal.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Arsenal.
The Gunners fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.
It will be interesting to see whether Arsenal will make their move during the winter transfer window.
