Arsenal join the hunt for Napoli star Victor Osimhen

Arsenal could solve their issues at striker this summer as they eye up a move for Victor Osimhen.

As per Italian media, Arsenal have joined the hunt for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The 23-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

Napoli spent 75 million euros to sign the Nigeria international from Lille in September 2020. He has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2025.

The striker banged in 15 goals and provided 4 assists in 25 matches this season across all fronts showcasing just how influential he has been in the final third.

He is considered to be one of the best strikers in Nigeria. As a member of Nigeria national football team, Osimhen won 18 caps and he scored 10 goals.

Osimhen is set to be a man in demand in the summer transfer window, with a host of clubs queuing up to pursue his signature.

Adding a striker remains Arsenal’s top priority this summer and Mikel Arteta will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks. The report claims that Arsenal manager has extensively scouted Osimhen and is considering a move for the striker.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nkeitah are also entering the final months of their respective contracts. Gazzetta dello Sport – via Sport Witness – have reported that Osimhen is on Arsenal’s radar. However, their pursuit of Osimhen will depend on whether they have enough to cash to meet Napoli’s asking price of £84million. The north London club are currently in fourth on the Premier League and securing Champions League football could go a long way to signing Osimhen next summer. Manchester United and Newcastle United have also been linked with the 23-year-old.”

Arsenal will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Napoli to the negotiating table. The Gunners have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.
