AC Milan are keeping tabs on several centre-backs across Europe, with one of them being Davinson Sanchez.
As per British and Italian media, Milan are hoping to sign Colombia international Davinson Sanchez.
Tottenham spent 42 million euros to sign the 26-year-old from Ajax in the summer of 2017. He has two years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.
The centre-back finished the 2021/22 season with a tally of two goals from 32 matches across all competitions.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Colombia. Sanchez has earned 49 senior caps for the Colombia national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
Davinson Sanchez is out of the picture at Tottenham, which has opened the door for a potential exit.
The Italian giants have earmarked Tottenham centre-back as their target, with Stefano Pioli being a ‘huge admirer’ of the player.
Sanchez is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Stefano Pioli wants to target in the summer transfer window.
The former Ajax man heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third.
According to the report, “Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez is interesting AC Milan. Milan have been in talks with Spurs for defender Japhet Tanganga, though negotiations have gone cold. Instead, Calciomercato.it says Milan have now asked Tottenham for Sanchez. And Spurs are willing to do business with the Colombia international up for sale this summer. The Serie A champions had previously held an interest in the Columbian two years ago and have returned as they plan for their title defence. The 26-year-old has been in North London for five years but has never been able to cement a starting place in the team under multiple managers.”
Euro Football Rumours
AC Milan will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Sanchez to join the club.
The Spurs will be ready to part ways with the centre-back should the right offer arrives.
Good signing for AC Milan?
If Davinson Sanchez is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for AC Milan.
Sanchez has all the skillset required to be a success story at Milan. Therefore, it makes sense for Pioli to step up his attempts to bring the Colombian centre-back to Serie A side.
The 26-year-old could be a good fit for Pioli’s Milan.
If Stefano Pioli sees him as the right man for his side, Milan should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
