West Ham show interest in Joel Veltman
West Ham target Joel Veltman from Ajax to boost their defensive options.
According to the football transfer rumours in Dutch media, West Ham are showing interest in Ajax defender Joel Veltman.
The 27-year-old has one year left on his current contract which expires in 2020.
As a member of Netherlands national football team, Joel Veltman won 19 caps and he scored 2 goals.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including West Ham.
Manuel Pellegrini wants to sign a new defender and Joel Veltman is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The West Ham manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move this summer.
West Ham are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
According to Football Oranje (via De Telegraaf), “West Ham United are interested in signing Ajax defender Joel Veltman. The 27-year-old has made it no secret that he is open to leaving Amsterdam this summer for a move abroad. Veltman is quoted by De Telegraaf saying, “I am open to a transfer. I am now 27, I have a one-year contract after this and this is a good moment in itself. There is certainly some interest, but not really concrete yet. “ A move to England appears to be on the cards for the centre-back, who can also play on the right. West Ham United are showing concrete interest in Veltman and have already made contact with his management.”

If West Ham are genuinely interested, a deal would not be impossible to complete.
Undoubtedly he would be a fantastic recruit for West Ham.
How strong that interest is and whether West Ham will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
