West Ham poised to land Juventus star Gonzalo Higuain

There has been intense speculation surrounding the future of Gonzalo Higuain in the last period.

The latest reports in Italy suggest that West Ham are poised to land Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentina international was signed by Juventus in July 2016 from Napoli for a fee of 90 million euros. The 31-year-old has a contract until 2021 with the club. In January 2019, Higuain was sent to Chelsea on loan.

In total, he has scored 5 goals from 18 Chelsea matches.

The 31-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Argentina. As a member of Argentina national football team, Higuain won 75 caps and he scored 31 goals.

Gonzalo Higuain is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Juventus this summer and the list of suitors in the Argentina international continues to grow.

Manuel Pellegrini wants to sign a new striker and Gonzalo Higuain is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

West Ham are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

The Argentina international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker.

According to Football Italia, “West Ham United have asked Juventus for Gonzalo Higuain at a cost of €40m, according to Sky Sport Italia, after they were rejected by several strikers. Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Hammers offered the same €40m for Maxi Gomez and Sebastien Haller, but both the Celta Vigo forward and Eintracht Frankfurt star rejected the transfer, believing they can aim higher. Now the €40m budget could be used for Higuain, although West Ham want the Argentine veteran on loan with option to buy. The option would become an obligation if certain conditions were met during the Premier League season. Pipita is 31 years old and returned to base from disappointing loan spells with Milan and Chelsea. Maurizio Sarri does not intend to keep him at Juventus and the striker has so far turned down a move to Roma, but could accept another go at the Premier League.”
