Werder Bremen defender Luca Caldirola in advanced negotiations with Cagliari
Cagliari are discussing a move to sign Luca Caldirola in the coming window.
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Werder Bremen defender Luca Caldirola is in advanced negotiations with Cagliari.
The Italy international joined Werder Bremen from Inter Milan for a fee in the region of 2.3 million euros in July 2013. His contract expires in the summer of 2019.
The 26-year-old has played only 48 times for Werder Bremen since signing from Inter Milan, scoring one goal and creating one assist in that time.
Luca Caldirola has represented Italy at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 70 caps and scoring three goals. The 26-year-old was part of the Italy’s squad that reached the Final of the 2013 European Under-21 Championship, where they lost to Spain.
The Italy international is out of the picture at Werder Bremen, which has opened the door for a potential exit.
Luis Diego Lopez is looking to shore up his defensive options and Werder Bremen’s Luca Caldirola happens to be a target. Lopez has extensively scouted Caldirola and is considering a move for the defender.

According to the report, Cagliari have agreed terms with Caldirola and now only need to negotiate a fee for the centre-back. The Italy international went on to leave Italy for Germany, but his time with Werder Bremen has been plagued by injuries and a lack of first-team opportunities.
Speaking of the offer, it is still unknown exactly how much the deal will be worth.
A move away from Werder Bremen will be not only the best move for Luca Caldirola, but also for the club.
