Villarreal linked with surprise move for Tottenham centre-back Juan Foyth
There has been intense speculation surrounding the future of Juan Foyth in the last period.
According to the football transfer rumours in British and Spanish media, Villarreal are linked with surprise move for Tottenham centre-back Juan Foyth.
The Argentina international was signed by Tottenham in August 2017 from Estudiantes for a fee of 13 million euros. The 22-year-old has a contract until 2022 with the club.
The centre-back has featured in 7 matches for Tottenham last term.
The 22-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Argentina.
Juan Foyth has represented Argentina at Under-20 level, winning 12 caps, before making his senior international debut in November 2018. As a member of Argentina national football team, Foyth won 10 caps.
The Argentina international is currently out of favor at Tottenham and could leave the club this summer.
Unai Emery is looking to shore up his defensive options and Tottenham’s Foyth happens to be a target.
The Argentina international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Emery wants to target in the summer transfer window.
Villarreal are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The centre-back heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third.
According to the report, “Villarreal are eyeing Tottenham defender Juan Foyth. Marca says after Sunday’s defeat to Everton, Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in signing a new centre-back before the transfer window shuts next month. If a new defender does arrive at Spurs, that could open the door for Foyth to leave, with Villarreal monitoring his situation. The Argentine was left out of Mourinho’s squad for the loss to Everton having fallen out of favour since the Portuguese coach replaced Mauricio Pochettino last season. Unai Emery is open to improving his defensive options, which include four centre-backs – Pau Torres, Raul Albiol, Ramiro Funes Mori and Sofian Chakla.”

Good signing for Villarreal?
A move away from Tottenham will not be only the best move for Juan Foyth, but also for the club.
If the Villarreal can tie up a cheap deal for the player, it may not be a bad signing by any means.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Villarreal.
