VfL Wolfsburg poised to loan Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom
VfL Wolfsburg are closing in on a deal to sign Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrøm, who spent last season on loan with Everton. The Bundesliga club is making a move to acquire the Danish international on an initial loan, with the possibility of a permanent transfer next summer.
According to Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto, Napoli have urged Lindstrøm to seek a new club, and Wolfsburg have stepped in with a proposal. The German side have tabled an €8 million offer for a season-long loan, with negotiations reportedly advancing quickly.
Lindstrøm’s time in Italy has been far from productive. After joining Napoli in 2023, he featured in 29 matches for the Serie A club without registering a single goal or assist. In an attempt to rejuvenate his career, he was loaned to Premier League outfit Everton for the 2024/25 season.

However, his stint at Goodison Park also failed to impress. The 25-year-old winger made 29 appearances for the Toffees, contributing just one assist and failing to find the back of the net. His lack of attacking output has led Napoli to reconsider his role at the club, despite his contract running until the summer of 2028.
Wolfsburg, meanwhile, see Lindstrøm as a potential value signing who could thrive with a fresh start in the Bundesliga. Known for his technical skills and off-the-ball movement, Lindstrøm will aim to rediscover the form that initially made him a sought-after talent during his early years at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Danish winger has also represented his national team 18 times, scoring one goal. While his recent club form has been underwhelming, Wolfsburg appear confident they can reignite his potential. A return to German football could provide the right environment for the winger to rebuild his confidence and develop his game.
The proposed deal structure suits both clubs: Wolfsburg gain a potentially high-upside player on a low-risk loan, and Napoli offload a fringe player while maintaining the possibility of a permanent sale next summer.

If the move materializes, Lindstrøm will look to make a stronger impact in the Bundesliga than he did in the Premier League or Serie A. His adaptation to German football is expected to be smoother given his prior experience in the league.
As Wolfsburg aim to strengthen their attacking depth for the upcoming season, Lindstrøm could be a key addition—provided he can rediscover the form that made him a standout talent in his earlier years. With a second chance in a familiar league, both Wolfsburg and Lindstrøm will hope this move proves to be a turning point.
