Tottenham pushing to sign Roma star Lorenzo Pellegrini
The Spurs have reportedly made contact with Roma over a deal to sign Italy international Lorenzo Pellegrini.
According to the football transfer rumours in British and Italian media, Tottenham are pushing to sign Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Roma spent 10 million euros to sign the Italy international from Sassuolo in the summer of 2017. The 25-year-old has one year left on his current contract which expires in 2022.
The midfielder has featured in 47 matches last term, netting 11 goals and providing 9 assists in all competitions.
The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Italy.
Pellegrini has also left his mark at the international stage after netting two goals in 17 senior appearances for the Italy national team.
The midfielder has just 12 months remaining on his contract and Roma may consider a deal in this transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
His impressive performances last season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Nuno Espirito Santo wants to sign a new midfielder and Pellegrini is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a firm fan of Roma midfielder and Tottenham could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Spurs are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
There is no doubt that Pellegrini will take Tottenham’s midfield to a different level.
According to the report, “Tottenham are eyeing Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini. But they will have to meet the midfielder’s £26million release clause to pry him away from old boss Jose Mourinho. The Athletic reports Pellegrini has emerged as a target for Nuno Espirito Santo after he made Moussa Sissoko available for transfer. There are also doubts over Harry Winks’ Spurs future. And Pellegrini, 25, is seen as the ideal man to fill their shoes if they leave.”

If Tottenham can agree on a fee with Roma, the deal should be easy to complete.
Good signing for Tottenham?
Lorenzo Pellegrini stands as an excellent option for Tottenham.
Signing the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Nuno Espirito Santo.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Tottenham.
How strong that interest is and whether Tottenham will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
