Tottenham pushing to sign Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco

When it comes to the transfer market, Tottenham are simply one of the best in the business.

The latest reports in England suggest that Tottenham are pushing to sign Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco.

The Belgium international joined Atletico from Dalian Professional for a fee in the region of 27 million euros in September 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2024.

He has featured in three matches for Atletico Madrid this term.

The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best wingers in Belgium. His record for Belgium is impressive. Carrasco has scored 8 goals in 57 matches for Belgium at senior level.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Tottenham.

The Spurs have earmarked Carrasco as their target, with Antonio Conte being a ‘huge admirer’ of the player. Conte is a long term admirer of Carrasco and believes he can get the most out of the Belgium international.

The Belgian, who currently plays as a left-wing-back for Diego Simeone’s team, is also capable of playing as an attacker on the left flank. The Telegraph reports that Spurs are in discussions with Atleti about a possible deal for Carrasco. However, the matter is complicated by the Spanish club losing Renan Lodi on loan to Nottingham Forest. Carrasco and Lodi were battling to secure the back-up left-wing-back spot in Simeone’s squad. After letting Lodi go, it is unclear if the club will be willing to part with Carrasco as well. Spurs boss Antonio Conte, however, wants to secure the Belgian as soon as possible.”

Euro Football Rumours

Tottenham will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Atletico Madrid to the negotiating table. They have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.

The Spanish giants would be wise to keep the Belgium international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Good signing for Tottenham?

If Tottenham and Antonio Conte are seriously considering a winger, Carrasco could also prove to be a smart option.

Yannick Carrasco will be an ideal choice for Conte as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his attackers.
