Tottenham linked with surprise move for West Ham star Tomas Soucek
The midfield department of the Tottenham squad needs quality additions this summer.
According to multiple reports emanating from England, Tottenham are linked with surprise move for West Ham United defensive midfielder Tomas Soucek.
The Czech Republic international joined West Ham United from Slavia Prague for a fee in the region of 16.2 million euros in July 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2024.
The defensive midfielder has banged in 6 goals and provided one assist in 51 matches for West Ham last term on all fronts.
The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Czech Republic. His record for Czech Republic is also impressive. Tomas Soucek has scored 9 goals in 49 matches for Czech Republic at senior level.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Antonio Conte wants to sign a new defensive midfielder and Soucek is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a firm fan of West Ham defensive midfielder and Tottenham could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Spurs are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former Slavia Prague man will add a new dimension to Tottenham’s midfield.
According to the report, “Tottenham are ready to test West Ham United’s resolve for Tomas Soucek. Football Insider says Soucek’s relationship with manager David Moyes has soured in recent months. As such, there is a good chance that the 27-year-old will be sold this summer. Tottenham have, through agents, been offered Soucek. The Czech Republic international has a deal with West Ham to 2024. The Irons have an option to extend for another year.”

It would take a huge offer from Tottenham to prise the 27-year-old defensive midfielder from West Ham. It is claimed that the Hammers are open to letting Soucek go.
Good signing for Tottenham?
If Soucek is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Tottenham.
The 27-year-old could be a very good squad player for Antonio Conte over the next few years. He is at the peak of his career right now and Conte could bring out the best in him.
