Tottenham keen to land Porto winger Luis Diaz

Over the past couple of weeks, there has been intense speculation over the future of Luis Diaz at Porto.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Tottenham are keen to land Porto winger Luis Diaz.

The Colombia international joined Porto from Junior for a fee in the region of 7.2 million euros in July 2019. His contract expires in the summer of 2024.

The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best wingers in Colombia.

Luis Diaz has represented Colombia at Under-20 level, winning 5 caps, before making his senior international debut in September 2018. As a member of Colombia national football team, Diaz won 13 caps and he scored one goal.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Tottenham.

Jose Mourinho wants to sign a new winger and Diaz is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

Tottenham are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

Luis Diaz would provide a good variety to Tottenham’s attack.

According to the report, “Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is weighing up a raid on former club Porto for Luis Diaz. The 23-year-old has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 49 appearances, primarily operating on the left wing. And his exploits haven’t gone unnoticed and Mourinho has taken a keen interest in the player. The Daily Express reports Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and co. will be operating on a limited budget having missed out on Champions League football.”

Porto are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the winger, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

Good signing for Tottenham?

The Premier League side need to add more depth to their attack and the 23-year-old would be a good signing.

Luis Diaz is very highly rated in Colombia and he could be a superb long term signing for Tottenham.

The ball is in Tottenham’s court and they need to take a decision on signing Luis Diaz.

How strong that interest is and whether Tottenham will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
