Tottenham join the hunt for Chelsea star Kurt Zouma
Tottenham need to strengthen their defense this summer.
The reports in England suggested that Tottenham have joined the hunt for Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma.
The 26-year-old has been with Chelsea since 2014, having signed for the club from Saint-Étienne for 14.6 million euros. The France international’s current deal expires in 2023.
In 151 appearances for Chelsea, Zouma has managed to score 10 goals, and create 6 goals for his teammates.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in France.
Kurt Zouma has also left his mark at the international stage after netting one goal in 8 senior appearances for the France national team.
The Chelsea manager does not see him in his plans and would be open to letting him leave.
Tottenham are looking to sign a centre-back and have identified the 26-year-old as potential transfer target.
Nuno Espírito Santo is a firm fan of Chelsea centre-back and Tottenham could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Spurs are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
Kurt Zouma is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Tottenham Hotspur are stepping up their interest in Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma. The Blues are desperate to offload Zouma as they look to raise funds for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. They have offered Zouma to West Ham United, but the Frenchman’s wage demands have scuppered the deal. Spurs are now hoping to take advantage of the situation, per Sky Sports. The north London club are also in talks with Fiorentina over centre-back Nikola Milenkovic. Zouma would prefer to remain in London amid interest from the Hammers. Chelsea are looking for at least £25m for the 26-year-old.”
