Tottenham: Club interested in goalkeeper Gregor Kobel
Gregor Kobel is getting closer to Tottenham day by day as transfer talk continues to intensify.
Tottenham are interested in goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, according to the football transfer rumours in German and British media.
The Switzerland international was signed by Stuttgart in July 2020 from TSG Hoffenheim for a fee of 4 million euros. The 23-year-old has a contract until 2024 with the club.
Since his arrival from Hoffenheim, Kobel has conceded 91 goals and provided 17 clean sheets in 65 games.
Gregor Kobel has represented Switzerland at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 24 caps.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
The Spurs are looking to sign a goalkeeper and have identified the 23-year-old as potential transfer target. They have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Tottenham will have funds to spend in the market and it will be interesting to see how they approach the summer transfer window.
With questions being raised concerning Hugo Lloris’ future at the club, the Tottenham manager could well look to Kobel as an ideal replacement.
According to the report, “Tottenham are eyeing Stuttgart goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Hugo Lloris has also been linked with a move to join former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain. While the search for a successor to Jose Mourinho remains the priority for Tottenham, they have also been busy in the scouting department. Kicker says Spurs are interested in signing Stuttgart’s Kobel this summer, with the 23-year-old goalkeeper ‘getting closer’ to leaving. Stuttgart director Sven Mislintat recently admitted Kobel was attracting attention from other clubs, with Borussia Dortmund also linked. Kobel could be available for around £13-£17.3million (€15-20m), with Stuttgart already lining up Mainz’s Florian Müller as a replacement.”
