The Toffees willing to buy Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx
The midfield department of the Everton squad needs quality additions this summer.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Everton are willing to buy Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx.
The Belgium international only joined VfL Wolfsburg from Mechelen in 2021 for 8 million euros and his contract runs to June 2025.
The midfielder has banged in two goals in 18 matches this term on all fronts.
The 19-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Belgium. Vranckx has represented Belgium at Under-15, Under-16, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 11 caps.
He has been in impressive form for Wolfsburg this season and it looks like he caught the eye of many European clubs including Everton.
Frank Lampard wants to sign a new midfielder and Vranckx is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.
The Belgium Under-21 international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfielder Lampard wants to target in the summer transfer window.
The former Mechelen man will offer the Everton boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.
According to the report, “Everton are watching VfL Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx. Calciomercato.com says Everton want to sign the 19-year-old, who’s also previously been on the radar of AC Milan. His agent, Peter Verplancke, has previously revealed Manchester City were among the clubs interested in him.”
Euro Football Rumours
The Toffees have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the Belgium international.
Wolfsburg would be wise to keep the 19-year-old, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Good signing for Everton?
If Vranckx is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Everton.
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
All in all, Vranckx will be an ideal choice for Lampard as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his midfielders.
How strong that interest is and whether Everton will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
