Swansea City tipped to sign PSV Eindhoven defender Santiago Arias

According to the football transfer rumours in Holland, Swansea City are tipped to sign PSV Eindhoven defender Santiago Arias.

Santiago Arias has joined PSV Eindhoven from Sporting CP for a fee in the region of 670,000 euros in July 2013. The 25 year-old has a valid contract with PSV Eindhoven until June 2019.

Since his arrival from Sporting CP, Santiago Arias has scored six goals and provided 15 assists in 130 games for PSV Eindhoven, including one goal and provided six assists in 27 games in all competitions this season.

The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best defenders in Colombia.

Santiago Arias has represented Colombia at Under-17and Under-20 level, winning 12 caps, before making his senior international debut in October 2013. As a member of Colombia national football team, Arias has won 31 caps.

The Colombia international is a player who has impressed many Premier League clubs in the last few seasons, and it is understood that Swansea City manager Paul Clement would prefer playing him as a right-back.

Premier League clubs Chelsea and Sunderland are apparently trailing Swansea City in the pursuit of PSV Eindhoven defender Santiago Arias.

Euro Football Rumours understood that Swansea City are preparing summer offer in the region of 14 million euros for Colombia international defender.

How strong that interest is and whether Swansea City will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
