Southampton pushing to sign Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz has emerged as a surprise target for Southampton in the winter transfer window.

The reports in England suggested that Southampton are pushing to sign Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

The 20-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Racing Club and has successfully managed to establish himself as a key member of their senior team. He is under contract until the winter of 2026.

The likes of Benfica are also chasing after him, with the Portuguese club seeing him as a replacement for wantaway star Enzo Fernandez. Per The Athletic, Southampton do want to sign Alcaraz, but may have to move quickly to fend off interest from other teams. Alcaraz is seen as a replacement for Oriol Romeu, who left in the summer under Ralph Hasenhuttl.”
